Nelson Mandela - Life Changing Quotes

Today is Mandela day where people from all over the world are trying to help others that are in need. I am a believer in the benefits of the day and whilst some people only do it on the day I believe in doing it all year long.

The benefit of this day for me is that it creates awareness and it will get some people to change their views on life and start to think more about others and work on a more permanent basis to help others.

I am going to post sayings and speeches by Nelson Mandela.

Below is from Wikipedia

Nelson Mandela International Day (or Mandela Day) is an annual international day in honour of Nelson Mandela, celebrated each year on 18 July, Mandela's birthday.[1] The day was officially declared by the United Nations in November 2009,[2] with the first UN Mandela Day held on 18 July 2010. However, other groups began celebrating Mandela Day on 18 July 2009.

On 27 April 2009, the 46664 concerts and the Nelson Mandela Foundation invited the global community to join them in support of an official Mandela Day.[3] Mandela Day is not meant as a public holiday, but as a day to honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela, South Africa's former President, and his values, through volunteering and community service.[1][4]

Mandela Day is a global call to action that celebrates the idea that each individual has the power to transform the world, the ability to make an impact.

The Mandela Day campaign message is:

"Nelson Mandela has fought for social justice for 67 years. We're asking you to start with 67 minutes."

"We would be honoured if such a day can serve to bring together people around the world to fight poverty and promote peace, reconciliation and cultural diversity," according to a statement issued on Mandela's behalf.

To mark the first global celebration of Mandela Day on 18 July 2009, Mandela's 91st birthday, a series of educational, art exhibit, fund-raising and volunteer events leading up to a concert at Radio City Music Hall on 18 July were organised by the 46664 concerts and the Nelson Mandela Foundation. In November 2009, the United Nations General Assembly formally declared 18 July to be "Nelson Mandela International Day".

How Red Bull Makes Money

I found this small explanation on how Red Bull was started and how they do business very interesting.

They are masters of marketing and their who strategy is marketing based. The rest comes from the fact that they are best at getting their names out there even though there are issues about the health aspects of the product for certain people or if used in excess.

Besides selling one can for almost every person on the planet in 2019, Red Bull owns several football clubs, runs two formula one teams and is famous for its extreme sporting events and athletes. Obviously, Red Bull does much more than selling an energy drink. But is all that just marketing? We take a closer look at how Red Bull makes money.

Motivational Monday: Do you need to be inspired? The Salam Stars Are the Changing Face of Basketball

Here is the next video in our Motivational Monday Series. We start every week off with a motivational story to inspire you to greater things.

I find the YouTube Channel Great big Story has loads of interesting stories and some of them are extremely inspirational.

If you subscribe to my Patreon Channel you will get a review from me and my takings from the video.

Hear that swish? That’s the Salam Stars crushing it on the court. The all-female varsity basketball team is made up of Muslim students from the Salam School, an Islamic school in Milwaukee. All the players wear hijabs and modest athletic wear. In an ideal world, that wouldn’t be a big deal, but they often face judgment based on their outfits and their religion. But these athletes ignore the haters. The Salam Stars are focused on the game. They play to win while making space for other girls to do the same.

What is better for your business Slack or Microsoft Teams?

I have started to use Slack and Microsoft Teams to see if I can improve my workflow in the office. I am not sold on either of them yet.

Besides for the amount of resources that both platforms use and how much they slow down my computer, I don't really find them all that useful. I do think that if you are a Microsoft person and all your apps are Microsoft Apps you might think that Teams is the better option but if you are a Google Workplace, or Facebook Workplace person then you would prefer Slack.

I will continue to give both of them a good test and will come back with a better, more educated opinion in a couple of months time. But until then enjoy this video talking about the history of Slack.

What do you think about both platforms? Are there any other platforms that you can recommend? Are we just going back to MSN with a little more functionality?

Justin Cohen book launch - Winning With Relationships: 21 Laws of Influence in Love and Business

Justin Cohen recently launched his new book - Winning with relationships. I was lucky enough to be part of an initial group that did his course prior to the book launch. The course was fantastic and I learned so much that would help me in life, work, in mentoring others and on the sports field.

Decades of research show that the most important key to our success and happiness is the strength of our relationships. Winning at life depends on knowing how to win with people. In this book Justin Cohen, one of the world’s leading experts on human potential, will show you how. With a combination of cutting-edge research, humour, entertaining examples and practical take-home tools, you will discover the 21 laws of influence to help you:

• Attract high-value people into your life.
• Motivate people to do what you want done.
• Prevent and resolve conflict.
• Inspire people to realise their full potential.
• Do the one thing that creates almost instant liking and rapport.

“More than a book on relationships, this is a tour de force on leadership.” – Sir Eric Peacock, Chairman, Academy for Chief Executives, UK

It's Time to Embrace Vulnerability | Simon Sinek

This is a time of vulnerability. We’ve been forced to recognize that we cannot get through this alone. We must be willing to ask for help.

This clip is from a conversation with founder and CEO Reggie Joiner for the Orange Conference.

Simon is an unshakable optimist who believes in a bright future and our ability to build it together. Described as “a visionary thinker with a rare intellect,” Simon teaches leaders and organizations how to inspire people. With a bold goal to help build a world in which the vast majority of people wake up every single day feeling inspired, feel safe at work, and feel fulfilled at the end of the day, Simon is leading a movement to inspire people to do the things that inspire them. Simon is the author of multiple best-selling books including Start With Why, Leaders Eat Last, Together is Better, and Find Your Why. His new book, The Infinite Game, will be released in 2019.

Simon’s WHY: To inspire people to do the things that inspire them so that, together, each of us can change our world for the better.
